From 18th November 2025 Companies House identification verification became mandatory for all existing and new company directors, for persons with significant control in the business and anyone filing on behalf of a company (e.g. accountants or agents).
This date marks the start of the 12-month phased roll-out to allow time for companies to adhere to the new requirements.
The aim of this new identify verification service is to give more assurance about those who are setting up, running, and controlling UK companies. It seeks to deter people from using fake or stolen identities and makes it easier to identify disqualified directors and criminal behaviour.
You can verify your identity in 2 ways:
Option 1 - Online through Companies House GOV.UK One Login service
Option 2 - Through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider.
