As of 4th March 2024, Companies House brought in changes to minimise fraudulent and incorrect information being held on the register. The new responsibilities will affect all new and existing company directors, people with significant control of a company and anyone who files on behalf of a company.
The Key measures to be introduced are outlined as follows:

Companies House will have greater powers to query information, request supporting evidence and decline information.
Stronger identity verification.
New rules for registered information. The registered office address must be an “appropriate” address and a registered email address is now required.
A requirement for all companies to confirm they are forming the company for a lawful purpose when they incorporate, and every year thereafter to confirm its intended future activities will be lawful.
Accounts will need to be filed digitally. Paper filing will no longer be accepted.
The ability to annotate the register when information appears confusing or misleading and to clean up the register using data matching to identify and remove inaccurate information.
Sharing data with other government departments and law enforcement agencies
