Whilst the UK is floundering in yet another year of financial hardship, and even with such bleak predictions, businesses and entrepreneurs can and will survive.
The below are some general insights which may be helpful to bear in mind.

Don’t try and undertake everything yourself, delegate and allow others to take on responsibility. Perfection cannot be achieved, so embrace that making mistakes are valuable to success, so don’t be afraid to take measured risks.
“The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.” ― Theodore Roosevelt

Self-reflection
We all have strengths and weaknesses, so take time to look internally at yours. Are you a procrastinator or lack creativity and your business really needs these skills to succeed. You may find that the areas of the business that are struggling are in fact linked to your weaknesses, so they need to be addressed.

Hire smart
Getting the right team is crucial to your business, so don’t cut corners when interviewing or short-listing candidates. Of course, make sure that they have the necessary skills and experience, but equally they must be a good fit with other staff members and your working culture. Take time to introduce them to the office and “interview” them out of the normal formal setting.

Know your customers
You cannot be everything to everyone. This has never been truer now than in recent years when the recession has forced people to want more value for money. Be direct and ask your customers what they want, get their feedback so you can maximise the value you provide. It is important for the customer to feel valued and that you have considered their needs.
